2017 Buick LaCrosse - America's New Luxury Sedan

The completely redesigned 2017 Buick LaCrosse is now a legitimate luxury car, not because advertisements say it is, but for the way it drives, the way it looks, and the way it invites you inside.
The 2017 Buick LaCrosse is not your "Old School Buick". This redesigned and engineered LaCrosse is full of life, lending it to be competitive with BMW 5 series and Lexus ES 350.
This LaCrosse doesn't handle like a tuna boat, it handles the corners with crisp handling and steering response.
The chief engineer on this project was Jeff Yanssens who has past generation Corvette-engineering ties. Jeff has brought that Corvette feel to this new Buick Lacrosse.  Changes include a stronger and lighter body structure, a five-link rear suspension system and  advanced sound deadening materials to reduce road noise and create a comfortable, quiet interior.

The LaCrosse comes with a smooth running 3.6-liter V-6 producing 310 hp with a strong torque output of 282 lb ft. turning the wheels with an  eight-speed transmission. Standard front wheel drive and available all wheel drive.

Cadillac's Super Cruise helps defeat sleeping at the wheel.

It is not a wonder as to why we tend to be a bit overwhelmed each day, with all that is required of us on a daily basis. Does your day sound something like:
Get up early
Work out
Take care of the dog
Take care of the kids
Get everyone up and out the door
You get out the door
What did you forget?

Have your list
Have your phone, is it charged
What else?:
How many meetings do you have today
Where are they
What time are you getting home
Are you meeting up with friends/family tonight
What class/meetings do you have this week after work
What about dinner
Where will everyone be tonight

Tired yet?  What if while you are driving, your eyes get a little heavy. You know you can fight it. Power down the window, turn up the radio, chew some gum, drink some coffee. Sometimes all of that just isn't enough. The power of sleep overcomes you, and the inevitable happens. You crash. Whether anyone is hurt or not, it is a dreadful event.

The automotive world is all about the autonomous and semi-autonomous driving technology and General Motors has been working on a Super Cruise system in hopes to be ahead of its domestic competitors and cater to consumers who increasingly are looking for automated driving-assistance features.
The Super Cruise’s eye-tracking tech will enable the system to better monitor whether the driver is paying attention or not. This system is designed to work even when the driver’s head is obscured by, say, sunglasses or a ball cap. The system reads the eye socket and nose to determine whether the driver is alert and looking at the road.

Super Cruise software can detect if a driver is dozing off or not watching the road, and uses audible and visual alerts to grab the person’s attention. If the alerts don’t work, a representative with OnStar  will activate the vehicle’s intercom and communicate with the driver. If the driver still doesn’t respond, the car will pull over on the side of the highway and stop.
Super Cruise driver monitoring is one piece of GM’s approach to a safer self-driving platform. Super Cruise will be limited to highways that have detailed map information available; if the driver leaves the highway, Super Cruise shuts down.

Super Cruise is expected to launch with the 2017 Cadillac CT6, but GM has previously stated it will delay the technology should it require further refinements.

Keep it between the lines,
Be safe.

2014 GMC Sierra has Arrived!

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 All Terrain has arrived!

The redesigned GMC Sierra pickup is going on sale, this Spring, with V8 engines that GMC claims will get a better fuel economy than the rival Ford F-150 equipped with a turbocharged V6.

The 2014 GMC Sierra gets a base price of $25,085, a $1,495 increase over the current base, rear-drive Sierra with a 6-foot bed.
GMC has redesigned the new truck with the crew cab body style and optional 355-hp, 5.3-liter V8, which adds $895 to the sticker price. GMC expects the 5.3-liter V8 and six-speed automatic transmission powertrain to be the most popular with truck buyers.
Base prices, including shipping charges, for the GMC trucks, with rear-drive and 6-foot beds are:

  • Regular cab: Sierra, $25,085
  • Double cab: Sierra, $29,110
  • Crew cab: Sierra, $33,210
GMC says a rear-drive, regular cab Sierra with the 5.3-liter V8 will deliver 16 mpg city, 23 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined, compared with 16/22/18 mpg for a 2013 Ford F-150 with the 365-hp EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6.
Four-wheel-drive versions of the GMC trucks will be rated at 16/22/18 mpg, compared with 15/21/17 mpg for the comparable Ford F-150.

Later this year the GMC trucks will become available with an optional of a 6.2-liter V8. The V6 and both V8s are all equipped with direct fuel injection, variable valve timing and cylinder cutoff technology to boost fuel economy.
The cylinder cutoff allows the V8s and V6 to run on four cylinders, allowing for greater fuel economy. All Models come with a six-speed automatic transmission.

GMC will give buyers of the GMC Sierra a service maintenance plan that runs for two years or 24,000 miles. The GM trucks use an oil life monitor to alert the driver to the need for an oil change, rather than a preset mileage/month schedule. The current GMC trucks use the same oil life monitor.

While the 2014 GMC Sierra look little-changed from the 2013 model on the outside, several changes to the interior and under the skin were made.

Among them:

  •  The extended cab body style is replaced with a double cab that uses rear doors hinged at the B-pillar and that open toward the front of the truck and can be opened without opening the front door.
  •  The trucks' frame and body use more high-strength steel to reduce weight while increasing stiffness.
  • All versions use electric variable-assist power steering, which reduces load on the engine.
  •  The interiors were redesigned to add more leg room in the rear of double cab and crew cab models. The instrument panels include an optional 4.2-inch monitor that shows vehicle status info.
  •  All trucks get four-wheel disc brakes.
