Summer Vehicle Checklist

Summer is finally here . You have your checklist for the road:
 Cooler packed
 Sunglasses
 Suntan Lotion
 Reading Material
 Towels
 Money, Phone

You are ready to go, Right?
Well, have you checked out your ride yet?
It is a BUMMER being stranded on the side of the road because you forgot to get your vehicle checkout for the Summer months.
It doesn't take much to get it checked over and it sure beats the alternative.
Here are a few things you need to check before you head off into the sun and the fun.
My Dad always taught me to check all of the Fluid levels before I headed off. Brake fluid, radiator coolant, oil level, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, windshield wiper fluid, tire pressures, and clean battery terminals.
Here are a few more items to check before you go.

Replace your Air Filter: Your engine needs to breath- if you haven't had it replaced within the last 6 months now is the time.It will save you money.

Tire Check: Make sure you have your tread depth checked- you need to be able to handle the vehicle if you end up on a rainy /slick roadway.  Check your tire pressures, make sure they are correct, this is another money saver.

Replace your windshield wipers: After a cold winter- your wiper blades may not be in the best condition, making them almost useless if you get caught in a summer downpour. Replace them at the beginning of summer and you won't have to worry.

Brake Inspection: When was the last time you had your brakes inspected? If it has been more than 6 months, you want to get them checked. Car safety is a must.

Check your lights: Not just your headlights, but all of them. Turn your lights on and make sure all of your marker lights are working and that your turn signals are flashing. This will keep your visibility at its best.

Radiator Flush: If you haven't had any maintenance done in awhile, you might want to consider having your radiator drained and flushed. A radiator flush once a year is a good way to make sure your vehicle is running cool all year.

Air Conditioner Check: Nothing worse than being stuck in traffic on the road and your a/c stops working. Have it checked out to make sure you can stay COOL.

Please Drive Safe. Don't text, speed or drive drunk. Remember, your loved ones are on the road too.

Keep it between the lines.
Happy Motoring
